Marielle Hayes: “It’s great because our kids can walk to school, all three of them. Our daughter can walk to the High School, and our boys can walk to Wildwood, which is nice. I feel like it has a good sense of community.”
Lisa: Community is exactly what my clients were looking for when I helped them buy their dream home in Piedmont, and that’s exactly what they got.
Alicia Avery: “I love the neighborhood, it’s super family-friendly. There are a ton of young families around here. It’s really walkable, which is nice, to a bunch of different areas with fun spots, and there are some wine bars around, so we love it.”
Lisa: I hired a mobile Barista and invited all the neighbors to meet my clients on a rare sunny Saturday in December. Along with all the neighbors, the Piedmont Fire Department showed up to tell my clients they work 24 hours a day, every day of the year to serve Piedmont residents at a moment’s notice.
Lt. Zach Heliker/ Piedmont Fire Dept.: “We pride ourselves in coming out and engaging with the community and talking about our services as well as preventative measures as well.”
Lisa: Piedmont police officer Jehan Liles also came and said meeting neighbors is why he became a police officer.
Officer Jehan Liles/ Piedmont Police: “We’ll come out if you’re locked out of your house, we’ll come out If there’s something of any concern and we have the time, we’ll be there. So, getting to know the residents kind of helps us make that connection, that we’re friends of the community and we want to be here to serve.”
Lisa: This gathering made my clients quickly feel like they were already part of this strong community, and I was happy that I could also support a small local business at the same time, Travelin’ Joe Espresso, Joe Choy, started his mobile espresso cart company in 1984.
What do you love about doing this?
Joe Choy/ Travelin Joe Espresso: “Everything! Today I woke up at like 7:00 this morning, I looked at my watch and thought my God, the Piedmont job doesn’t start till nine. What am I going to do until then? I was very excited about being here, and I’m very excited about being at every job.
Lisa: However, Travelin Joe says his business is only a third of the size it was pre-pandemic. But he says it’s okay.
Joe Choy / Travelin Joe Espresso: “I’m doing exactly what I want to do, and I’ve been blessed.”
Lisa: And my clients are living exactly where they wanted to live in this close-knit community.
